A “Pop-Up Quilt Show” for Visiting Cruise Quilters

PU20

The MBQG was asked  to host some quilters who were on a "Fall Colours" cruise to Halifax and they wanted to come to the South Shore. We quickly decided to host them with a "Pop-Up Quilt Show" in the church sanctuary where we meet.

We had seen this done before but we had never used the church sanctuary for a quilt show. We hoped it would be quick and easy to pull together and it was. In a little over an hour and a half we hung 131 quilts from 29 of our members.

We had 20 members come throughout the day who volunteered to help hang, host and take down the show. We were all packed and cleaned up in half an hour! Thanks to all the Guild members who brought in their beautiful quilts and thanks to those who helped. I think it was well worth the effort and something we will look at doing again in our "off year" from our usual big quilt show. We decided to open the show to the public after the cruise quilters left and we had a constant stream of people through despit the cold, rainy day.

We hope the cruise quilters (most of whom were from the San Francisco Bay area) enjoyed our efforts as much as we enjoyed sharing our quilts. Please see our Flickr page here for more pictures.
