Welcome to April! We have crammed such a lot of activity into a very short time frame!
If you didn’t make it to the meeting on April 8, you missed the completion of the President’s Ugly Fabric Challenge and quite a diverse set of projects undertaken by our participants. Be sure to check out the album here to take a look. In particular, check out Pam W’s Challenge project as she was the winner of this challenge event with her creative use of the fabrics that were chosen for her. Who would have thought that something so cool could come from a handful of “ugly” fabrics? Perhaps this proves that there is no such thing as an ugly fabric! Depends how you use them, I guess.
As usual Sew and Tell gave us an impressive array of colourful quilts. For the complete set, visit the album here but here’a a sneak peek.
Of course, the highlight of this past week was the return of our Extraordinary Quilter event – this year, featuring Melissa Marginet. We filled the Mahone Bay Legion to enjoy an assortment of tea-worthy sandwiches and sweets. Everything went off like clockwork. There are far too many volunreers to give adequate thanks for putting on such an event – but special thanks must surely go to Eldora and Pam for their organizational skills, Krista for heading up the kitchen crew and to Pina for all her hard work organizing Melissa’s talk and trunk show, and of course the remaining events – three days of workshops! If you missed it, or just want to refresh your experience, check out the album here.
And be sure to check out the cutest centerpieces ever – many thanks to the team that created these! They were so cute and definitely keepers for the next event!
So, now we have a few weeks to catch our breath, catch up with other Guild members at Slow Quilting (April 15th and 29th) and Sew Zoom (April 17th and 24th), and start getting ready for the Virtual Retreat on May 7th and 8th (with lunch on the 9th)! There is still lots to do before the end of our quilting year.
If you don’t have your share of the Raffle Quilt tickets yet to sell, be sure to let the Show Chair know – or any of us on the Executive – and we can make sure you have them. You will find contact info in the Newsletter. The tickets are an important way for us to finance the show so anything you can do to help sell them would be great.
See you at the May meeting.
