Another snowstorm – another postponement! However, our second attempt at this month’s meeting was successful and almost 50 Guild members came out on February 12 to catch up on the Guild’s comings and goings and to see what other people are up to in their sewing space.
Sadly, I had a scheduling conflict so the photos included in this month’s photo gallery really have to tell the story. If you, like me, could not be there, the Minutes will fill you in on the business aspects of the meeting when they are distributed close to our March meeting. You’ve already seen an email with a motion raised at the meeting – be sure to vote and register your view.
There are a few things from the February meeting that are time sensitive. I would remind you to register now for the UFO day on March 2 – a simple email to Peggy A. will do it. It will be a day full of chatting, sharing, learning and sure to be fun. Likewise, if you can’t be at the March or April meetings to do it in person, please let Krista G. know that you want to sign up for our new Virtual Retreat in May, and arrange to e-transfer the registration fee to her. I hear that the Sew Zoom group has a new project to pursue – Lori Holt’s The Quilted Witch – with a start date of March 6. While you are free to work on any project at all during Sew Zoom sessions, this would surely be a fun project to do as a group. Check out the pattern here.
The Marginet workshops following our April EQ Tea are open for registration. Check the Calendar here for details for the April 11, 12 and 13 workshops. If you haven’t registered by the March meeting, you may be competing with non-Guild members for the diminishing number of open spots in each of the workshops. I hear that at least one workshop is almost full and the other two are booking up!
As always, Sew and Tell showed off the new patterns and new ideas that our Members are using to create their quilts. This is an obvious highlight of each meeting. Please be sure to visit the Photo Gallery here and don’t forget that we are no longer updating the Flickr page as the Flickr photos are all being transferred to our web site. Of course, our Facebook and Instagram accounts will continue as always.
This month’s program was planned to showcase Project Linus but with rescheduling impacting that plan, the members of the Quirky Quilters bee came to the rescue to talk about – and better still, show – samples of their work. Many thanks to Marjorie S. , Beverley D., Patsy P, and Peggy L. for sharing. Find the remaining photos in our Gallery here.
Hopefully, the need for weather-related rescheduling is at an end and the remaining meetings this year take place as planned. We have an exciting lineup – watch for Barb Robson’s trunk show at the March meeting, Lynn Jones at the April meeting (including a pop up shop!!), and the Hat Lady who is scheduled for May.
See you in March!
