Bauhaus by Nina SS

The May 3rd meeting was short but lively. There was no program but for a very good reason. The program this month is a treat to all Guild members – free participation in a quilting event on the long weekend.  From 4 to 7 pm (Atlantic) on May 22 and 23, you can log into the All Star Visual Sampler Platter, an exciting event featuring quite a selection of quilting experts. Guild members will be sent the Zoom login shortly before the event takes place. Still Zoom shy? It’s not too late to get some help. Download MBQG Zoom Buddies, to find someone ready to guide you through it.

Membership renewals are already underway. Don’t forget to send your $30 as soon as you can – you will find instructions on how to do that in the May newsletter.

Wine Bags by Krista G.

Sew and Tell was the star of the show at this meeting, as you can see from the few photos here. Remember the Brandi Maslowski wine bag workshop? Take a look at these versions by Krista G. There are already people vying to get on her gift list.

There are more Dresden Neighbourhoods  – with a very special take on the pattern by Katina C’s husband. Our first quilt from the beaStar quilt along has made an appearance – a unique version that builds on the pattern we all began with.

And, on the heels of last month’s newsletter and the article on bag-making, more bags are making an appearance – a good diversion from making quilts. This one is the result of a group sewing session. Be sure to check out our Flickr Album to see the remaining bags and the rest of this month’s parade of quilts.

This meeting introduced a new feature for Guild members. Sew Zoom, a new quilt group,  will be launched on Wednesday, May 12 from 2 to 4 pm. Participants in Sew Zoom will work at their own pace on a common project. First up is the Wanderer’s Wife (formerly Gypsy Wife) by Jen Kingwell. This one is on a number of bucket lists and Sew Zoom is an opportunity to share tips and tricks, as well as get some encouragement, as you take on this new project. For more information or to sign up, email SewZoomQuilting@gmail.com

Don’t forget the AGM on June 7 – hope we see you there!
