Learn to Quilt Beginner Classes

The format will be set up with an introduction to what is required and question and answer session done via Zoom on March 22 at 10am until 12 noon.

The program itself, with hands on work, will be done in person, at the TUC Hall in Mahone Bay unless otherwise specified. The breakdown will be spread over 3 sessions, giving you time to complete each portion at home before the next session, if needed.

March 29th/25  10am-3pm  Session One: 

  • Preparing your fabric.
  • Cutting your fabric
  • Sewing your fabric with a ¼ inch seam with accuracy
  • Pressing your seams to lay properly

April 5th/25  10am-3pm  Session Two:

  • Squaring up your finished blocks
  • Complete sewing the “top” together
  • Proper pressing
  • Sandwich top, batting and backing
  • Walking foot quilting 

April 26th/25  10am-3pm  Session Three:

  • Trim quilted piece
  • Cut binding and piece together
  • Press binding and machine sew to quilted piece.
  • Hand stitch to back
  • Create a simple label and attach it to the back of quilted piece.
