It’s mid-October and already the Guild has hosted two get togethers this month (three, for those also taking the Lisa Walton workshop).
The first was an Open House on October 2nd. Members of the Executive were on hand to greet over 40 Guild members at an in-person event to drop off Cuddle Quilts, pick up refunds for April tea tickets, return library material, discuss volunteer opportunities for next year’s Quilt Show and simply take the chance to catch up with quilting friends not seen for many months. Almost 85 Cuddle quilts were collected making it possible to deliver a number of quilts to 9 different charities. There were also 49 preemie quilts offered up. Keep working on them, and hopefully there will be another Open House in the coming months where you can drop them off.
On to October 5th and our second virtual Guild meeting of the year. The Guild is really getting the hang of meeting virtually with Zoom. Over 30 members signed in to catch up and chat about the Open House and spend some time together.
The Minutes will be included in the newsletter but here’s your sneak peek:
- Quilt show meetings are on hold until March but volunteers are still required, particularly for Registration and for HR (identifying and scheduling show volunteers) . If you are interested in lending a hand, please contact Annette Fralic.
- Unsold raffle quilt tickets can be shredded and new ones are coming. If you still have tea tickets that need a refund, please contact Barb Robson
- check out the upcoming workshops in November and January – Download Oct 20 Guild meeting presentation[4958]
- a donation of $500 to Christmas Daddies was approved since the Guild won’t be able to provide our usual Challenge Kit quilt donation this year, as planned
- virtual meetings will continue for now, on a month to month basis – you may see an occasional survey as questions arise that need your input
The highlight, as usual, was Sew and Share. Be sure to visit Flickr to take a close look at this month’s submissions. For now, though, here is a sample of the eye candy waiting for you.

Hope to see you on line at the next meeting on November 2nd!
