Fall Workshops

By 31 August 2015Workshops

Plans are well underway for our fall workshops. The first one is Saturday October 17 with Linda Macdonald "Reflections".

Learn to reflect the inner beauty of a fabric. No drawing lines, no fussy cutting, no complicated piecing. This easy technique is a simple strip cutting and piecing technique that you apply to fabric. The Reflection technique is a variation of a kaleidoscope quilt because it uses four repeats of the fabric to create this beautiful effect.

The reflection technique is a fabulous look which is much easier to achieve than it looks. Even confident beginner quilters can use this easy technique and make spectacular quilts.

The next workshop is 2 days, Fri. Nov. 6 and Sat Nov. 7, with Deb Plestid from Tatamagouche "Beach Bums". See a write-up about Deb here.

Use your machine as your mechanical art pencil and your threads as your colorful nibs. Explore the myraid sititches you can use to individualize your quilts. In this class we will explore the myriad stitches you can use to individualize your quilts. You will create a stitch language through making a number of small samples that will become a reference for your future work.  Practice making continuous line designs, see how stitch density adds texture and interest, play with your own doodles and see them come alive in your quilts. Transfer one of Deb's designs, Three Bums on a Beach or Lillies onto muslin and use free motion quilt designs to paint the image. This two day workshop is suitable for intermediate to experienced stitchers.
