April 2015 Meeting

By 23 April 2015Meetings

April is turning out to be a busy month with Heather Stewart's workshop, our regular Guild meeting and next week, April 30, we are hostng the Celtic Quilt Guild from Cape Breton for a pot luck dinner and show and tell. Our Yard Sale is also fast approaching – Saturday May 2, 10am-2pm at Trinity United Church Hall in Mahone Bay.

We had a terrific turnout with 66 members in attendance. I think everyone was anxious to get out and see each other after a long and difficult winter.

Dorinda explains the "Time for Colour" challenge.

We had a great program with Dorinda McCully, the Nova Scotia rep for the Canadian Quilters Association (CQA). She brought with her a traveling show of small wallquilts (one half of the complete show, the other half is touring western Canada). The quilts are all for sale, I believe all but two have been sold in the show we saw. The money raised will go to the Children's Wish Foundation. Blank notecards are also being sold. It is hoped that CQA will be able to present a cheque for $8,000 to the Children's Wish Foundation in June at Quilt Canada in Lethbridge, AB. You can see more pictures of the wallhangings here on our Flickr Photostream. And more information about the project here.
