Bear Paw Workshop with Heather Stewart

The Guild was pleased to have Heather Stewart back with us for her Bear Paw workshop.

Heather approached this traditional pattern with her usual flare, approach to colour, sewing techniques and shortcuts. Her supply list called for Thangles and I don't think anyone in the class had ever used them before.

Our local shops didn't carry them so luckily Lynn was able to become a distributor and bring them in for us. They come in sizes from 1/2" to 4", if you are interested contact Lynn at gjjones@hotmail.ca Heather is right! They are wonderful to use, easy to tear off and there is very little trimming. But the main bonus was that those pesky little points all came out perfectly – with a little practice. I think everyone was pleased with the results. Isabel already finished hers, it has been donated to a local charity auction.

We were all sad to hear that Heather is going to be retiring from teaching (but not from making her beautiful quilts) in November but she has promised to come back to the MBQG, afterall she is a member! See more pictures on our Flickr Photostream here.
