February Meeting

By 10 February 2015Cuddle Quilts, Meetings

We tried, but the weather had other ideas and we had to cancel the Feb. 2 meeting as well as our rescheduled date of Feb. 9. Nova Scotia has had more than their fair share of winter weather this year and it has played havoc with our Guild activities. We also had to cancel Cuddle Quilt Day and our Sew In Day! I don't remember the Guild ever having to cancel so much due to weather.

We are trying again! Sew In Day has been rescheduled for Tuesday Feb. 17, Cuddle Quilt Day has been rescheduled for Feb. 28. Ebveryone is welocme to come to our Sew In Day, beginner quilters are most welcome! Come for the day (9am – 3pm) or for a few hours.

Finished quilts are displayed in the church.

Our Cuddle Quilts go far and wide in Nova Scotia, from local the women's shelter to Ronald macDonald House in Halifax. They go to local senior's/nursing homes and the Veteran's Unit at the Fisherman's Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg. We make wheelchair quilts, as well as "preemie" quilts for the NICU at the IWK Children's Hospital. Last year we donated well over 125 quilts of all different sizes. It takes a lot of people to accomplish this. Please come out on the 28th and help us, bring a friend! Everyone is welcome regardless if they are a member or not, regardless of their sewing skills we will find something for you to do!
