The weather co-operated and we were able to have our March meeting, no snow but boy it sure has been cold! As usual we had an enthusiastic crowd, lots of chatting and visiting.

Mar'14-11Helen

Helen shared her "Fireside Log Cabin", started in Heather Stewart's workshop and hand quilted by her bee, the Bay Buddies

Plans are well underway for our 2014 quilt show which will be held in conjunction with the Scarecrow Festival from October 3-5 at the Blockhouse Fire Hall. For now everyone is encouraged to enter 2 items (quilts/wallhangings). Entry forms will be available soon and if space allows we will be able to have a few more entries. Quilts do not have to be brand new, they just can't have been in a MBQG quilt show before.

Registrations for our EQ workshops with Ana Buzzalino are almost full. What a terrific response. Tickets for the Dessert Party are almost sold out too.

We are thrilled to be able to collaborate with the Mayflower QG and the Mariner's QG to bring Kaffe Fassett to Halifax to give a lecture at Saint Mary's University on Wednesday July 16. At the moment tickets ($20 each) are only available to members of the three guilds, if any are left after April 12, they will be offered to non-members. This is a wonderful opportunity for quilters to meet an icon in the quilt world.

I was pleased to share my pictures from the 2013 Vermont Quilt Festival, seeing them again reminded me just what a great show this is, I will go back! Some of my pictures can be found on my Flickr pages.

Be sure and see the rest of the show and tell pictures on our Flickr page.
