Catching Up!

By 10 June 2012Meetings

It has been a hectic few weeks what with Quilt Canada here in Halifax, Guild workshops, our end of the year pot luck dinner and AGM.

Quilt Canada is over again for another year and our MBQG was well represented with 4 of our members (Val Hearder, Barb Robson, Heather Stewart and Laurie Swim) teaching workshops and we all had quilts in the Invitational Show. As well Sandra Roch had a quilt in the miniature exhibition and she won a first place ribbon! New member Christina Belding also had a beautiful quilt in the National Juried Show and several pieces in the Mariner's Quilt Guild show. Pictures were not allowed at the NJS.

Congratulations Sandra. Many members also took workshops and also volunteered. It was also great to bump into members all over the campus at various venues for quilt shows and the merchant mall.

The weekend before QC many members took the One Block Wonder workshop taught by Patsy Perkins and Brenda Lohnes. I can't wait to see the results of this workshop. You can see the quilts in progress here. I expect we will see a few at our september meeting. It sounds like everyone had a great time and really enjoyed the process.

Thanks to Suzanne Amos for taking the pictures. You can see more here in our Flickr Photostream.

Last week we had our year end pot luck dinner and AGM. The food as always was delicious, wonderful array of salads and desserts. Be sure and check our recipe page for a few new recipes. We welcomed new members to our executive – Isabel Fancy will be our secretary and Maureen Lewis will be our treasurer. Many thanks to outgoing secretary Christine Bell and outgoing treasurer Sharon Burchill.

We had with us a couple of visitors from Quilt Canada, Heather MacArthur from Quilter's Connections Magazine and Gunnel Hag, a quilt teacher from Toronto.
