Preemie Quilts

Yesterday I delivered 73 quilts to the Neo Natal Intensive care Unit at the IWK Children's and Women's Hospital in Halifax. These quilts were made by members of the Mahone Bay Quilters Guild and the Mayflower Quilters Guild. We have donated well over 500 quilts in the past 6 years! An amazing accomplishment and I thank you all for your…

February 2013 Meeting

The weather played havoc with our originally scheduled meeting on February 4 but we managed to reschedule for February 11. Despite the forecast for snow later in the evening we went ahead and had a decent turnout with 49 members. It was a tricky drive home for everyone when the snow arrived much sooner than forecast! Thankfully everyone made it…

To Wash or Not to Wash

All washed and ready for a quilt or two! Further to our program last month and the question "should you pre-wash your new fabric or not" I came across this terrific post by Becky Goldsmith (thanks to  my friend Jan at Be*mused), who with her partner, Linda Jenkins, owns Piece O' Cake Designs. Take the time to read her post and…

Cuddle Quilt Day 2013

Sewing machines hummed all day. All last week we were watching the weather, the forecast for Saturday, Cuddle Quilt Day was not good, we made contingency plans and booked the hall for next Saturday. But someone in the weather department decided to bless us with a beautiful sunny but cold day and well over 50 members and friends came out…

MBQG Glossary

It has been brought to our attention that at meetings a lot gets talked about and that there are members both new and old who don't know what we are talking about! We have a lot of new members and we thought it would be useful to have a "glossary" which would explain things such a Cuddle Quilt Day, the…
