April 2016 Meeting

By 6 April 2016Meetings

We were almost derailed by more snow (in April!!) but we skipped our break and everyone was on the road by 8:10. Christine has done a great job filling in for Cathy who has spent her winter lolling about on the beaches and golf courses in Portugal. Hopefully Cathy will bring back some of that warm sun!

We had a busy meeting planned and we were pleased to welcome quite a few guests. We hope they enjoyed the meeting and will come back. It is our policy that guests may come for 2 meetings free of charge per year and after that we ask them to join.

Another visitor was Heather from Chester. She brought this amazing Grandmother's Flower Garden aka Aunt Jean's Quilt to share with us. It was begun in 1946 by her aunt in England. The black fabric is cotton blackout fabric. It has quite the story and you can read about it here. The quilt was hand pieced (EPP) and hand quilted.

Plans are coming together for our 16th annual Dessert Party with an Extraordinary Quilter who this year is Katie Pasquini Masopust from Santa Fe, New Mexico. you can see Katie's quilts on her website here. The workshops are almost full, the 2 day workshop has one place available and the one day workshop is full and the Dessert Party is sold out with a wait list! Thanks everyone from far and near for supporting our Guild!

Several people have asked if we are having our Quilter's Yard Sale this year. We discussed it at the February meeting (I think!) and it was decided not to have it this year but we will be back in 2017!

Be sure and check out our Flickr page here for more photos from the April meeting.
