The Pictou Lodge quilt, made by Dorothy Johnston (MQG) for Peter and Carol Ann van Weston (former owners of Pictou Lodge).
The 14th Quilter's Retreat at Pictou Lodge is now history. We had quilters from all over NS, NB and Ontario, 58 in all plus our teachers, Penny Berens from NS and Cheryl Arkison from Alberta.

The MBQG was well represented with twelve members there. Our scholarship winners, Christine Bell and Sandi Zinn (both first timers) had a wonderful time. They were in different workshops so it will be interesting to see what they accomplished and learned.
Linda's fascinator won "Best in Show"! With Penny and Cheryl in the background.
We had two rainy, windy days and 2 calm and sunny days. The food was great, the service as always was wonderful. Everyone got into the spirit of the Retreat y making some wonderful fascinators (or challenge this year). I had two favourites, Karen Maley's which was "built" on a base using a piece of a rotary cutting mat and Linda Finley's "Steampunk" themed fascinator.

We had to cancel our usual progressive show and tell due to wet and windy weather (where we visit each other's cabins to see the quilts etc) and instead we gathered in the largest workshop room and had a more traditional show and tell. The quilts were all pretty amazing and it was fun to all be together to see them.
The dates are set for September 2015, now to find some teachers and get busy planning!
Good to see some familiar faces!
