By 10 January 2013Meetings, Members

Luck was with us last Monday, the weather cooperated and it was a beautiful evening, clear and cold. Almost half out members came out for our first meeting of 2013.

Debbie and Pam (from the workshop committee) share what they found out about pressing seams to one side or pressing them open.

There was lots of chatter, lots of sharing and most of the executive shared their tips and tricks about everything from ironing and irons to rotary cutters and rulers. Many did some great research on the internet and shared what they found out. I think we all appreciated their efforts!

It was a busy meeting, with lots of lovely show and tell. Wonderful to see that the Seaside Stitchers ave taken on the 12"x12" challenge. Their first challenge was based on fruit and vegetables. They blindly drew a picture out of a bag and had to use that particular fruit or vegetable to inspire them. Some used the colours, some the actual image and some included the texture. They all did a wonderful job. We'll all look forward to seeing their future challenges in the months to come.

We have lots of plans for the coming months with workshops and exciting programs. Be sure and check the calendar link to the right to keep up to date on everything.

As with most guilds and volunteer organizations we are always looking for members to help with various activities. We already need to start planning for our 2014 Quilt Show. The more that step up and help the easier it will be for everyone. The only criteria is enthusiasm – just a little! So come prepared to the February meeting to sign up to help with the quilt show, one guarantee is you will have a good time!

The program committee have put together a questionnaire for members to fill out. If you didn't get one at the meeting, it will be coming to you attached to an email, please fill it out and bring it to the Feb. meeting. Have your say in what you want to happen at our Guild meetings. If you can't come to the meeting, please either give it to someone to bring in or mail to the address provided on the questionnaire. Thanks for your input.
