For 11 years now the Mahone Bay Quilters Guild have had a Dessert Party for about 120 quilters and their friends. This year we invited Anne Morrell Robinson to come back so we could see what she has been up to the last 10 years. And what a journey she has been on! Anne told us she is getting close to making her 500th quilt! No typo there, that is 500! I don't know anyone else who can say this. I think Anne is one of the most disciplined, organized and creative quilters I know. I have known Anne for over 35 years, from when she first came to Nova Scotia from Pennsylvania, she came and stayed and we are sure glad she did.
Patriotic Folk
Anne's quilts are a wonderful variety and combination of applique, piecing, machine applique, hand quilting and machine quilting. Throughout her quilts we see a wonderful sense of hunour and subtle touches to make us smile.
Buds Aglow
Anne's use of colour is just exquisite.
Crossed Laurel Medallion
We'll look forward to having Anne back in another 10 years but maybe before!
Anne is always an inspiration – what a legacy of quilts she has created. Ok, now to start planning a medallion quilt – hope we get our Medallion Club going in the fall.
