2018 Raffle Quilt1

Something Old, Something New designed and made by Anna Davison, this quilt is our 2018 Raffle Quilt. Tickets are now available from our Guild members, watch for us to be selling tickets at local farmer’s markets this summer and at our quilt show this fall. The quilt will be drawn for at our 2018 Scarecrow Festival Quilt Show on Sunday September 30. The quilt is 92” x 102”.

Anna writes about the quilt – “Sometimes we just want to try something different! The age old recipe for a traditional wedding inspired this original quilt pattern. I used the Medallion Border Beauty design layout and up to twenty coordinating fabrics to create this one-of-a-kind bed quilt. The modern center star-burst medallion was a challenge! It is framed by a variety of my favourite traditional [log cabin, nine-patch, courthouse steps, etc.] blocks, and more modern [pansy and vine, bowtie, multi-colored print] designs. Some designs lend themselves to both time periods, as in the case of the Bowtie block pattern, it’s an ‘old’ design made entirely by machine; a 3-dimensional effect was added to the Fan blocks. The entire quilt is hand-quilted.”

Our 2018 quilt show will be held during the Mahone Bay Scarecrow Festival, we have a change of location this year. Come see us at Trinity United Church, 101 Edgewater St., Mahone Bay where we will hang our quilts throughout the church and in the church hall. There will be quilts for sale, as well we will have a wonderful “boutique” of items for sale made by our members. Our bi-annual “challenges” will be up for a silent auction again with proceeds going to “Christmas Daddies”. Stay tuned for more exciting details to come!
