End of Another Year

June'14-7_edited-1

The 100th Anniversary Quilt and 23 of the 40 members who helped to make it. The quilt, designed by Anna Davison, was a gift from our Guild to the old Mahone Bay School which is celebrating their 100th anniversary this summer. Over 400 hours of work went into this quilt which was superbly machine quilted by Lynn Jones. The quilt hangs at the Mahone Bay Centre (the "old" school) on School St. More details about the quilt in a future post.

Another year under our belt! Where did it go? It sure was a busy one with workshops, guest speakers, lots of amazing quilts at show and tell, lots of new members and lots of quilts made for local charities. Kudos to everyone for a job well done!

June'14-25

We ended our year with our annual pot luck dinner and AGM. As always there was a wonderful buffet of food with too many choices! The AGM went quickly, all the reports were sent out ahead of time to members. Thanks to all who volunteered in one way or another, it really does make for a terrific Guild when so many come forward to help.

Ruth's "In a Japanese Garden" from a workshop with Patsy P. To her left a wall quilt made by Susan L. using her own shibori dyed fabrics.

Plans are well underway for another busy year with workshops, programs and special events. Many of our Guild members are looking forward to Kaffee Fassett's lecture in July at Saint Mary's University. This is going to be a wonderful evening co-hosted by the Mariner's QG and Mayflower QG. The three Guilds co-operated to host this evening. Be sure and check out our meetings and workshop pages to see what is coming up for the 2014-15 year.
