Sewing machines hummed all day.

All last week we were watching the weather, the forecast for Saturday, Cuddle Quilt Day was not good, we made contingency plans and booked the hall for next Saturday. But someone in the weather department decided to bless us with a beautiful sunny but cold day and well over 50 members and friends came out to finish as many cuddke quilts as we could. When the dust settles that number will be over 100! A new record. Thank you so much to everyone who participated. That old saying "many hands make less work" is so true.

I don't think they will run out of yarn anytime soon!

Thanks to our new team of organizers Valerie, Sheila and Leverne and their committee. The hall was very well organized for our assembly line, the sewing machines hummed all day and the nise level from the chatting was almost deafening at times. It was wonderful to just listen for a minute.

The tiers were busy all day too.

Many thanks to the cooks who brought in soups, biscuits and sweets for our lunch. And to Suzanne for keeping the kitchen going!

I know from experience just how much our quilts mean to the staff at the IWK NICU in Halifax. Their eyes light up everytime I take a load of quilts in. I know the families appreciate them too just as my family did almost 6 years ago.

We were happy to donate some of the larger quilts to the Veteran's Unit at the Lunenburg Hospital this year. One of our helpers this year, Rosemary, is a nurse who works there and she was thrilled to be able to deliver the quilts. Quilts will also go to Harbour House (the women's shelter in Bridgewater), the Blankets of Love program and to 2 local nursing homes Shoreham Village and Mahone Bay .
