Quilters in our Community

By 22 January 2008Community, Good Deeds

For over ten years the Mahone Bay Quilter’s Guild has supported Harbour House, the women’s shelter in Bridgewater, NS by providing them with cuddle quilts made by our members. We gather together on a Saturday in January to make, sandwich and tie quilts.

We are grateful to members of our communities who also come and help us on Cuddle Quilt Day. The quilts we make are given to the children who come to the shelter and they can take them with them when they leave. In recent years we have also begun to support the Mental Health Association of NS with twin sized quilts for their “Blankets of Love” program. These quilts are given to their patients in various locations around NS. And we also donate wheelchair quilts to local nursing homes and preemie quilts to the IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax.
