February 2016 Meeting

By 5 February 2016Meetings, Members

For the first time the Guild had a meeting in the afternoon. After a rough winter last year we had lots of requests to try this different meeting time. It was a beautiful day and we had a wonderful turnout. Thanks everybody, here's hoping the rest of our winter meetings go as well. We are back to our usual time for our March 7 meeting, 6:30 for 7pm.

With President Cathy away, our Vice-President Christine ably took the chair with a new style of gavel, thanks Christine for keeping us in order, though it took a few seconds for the frog to get our attention!

For our program we had a trunk show from SAQA. We had "section E" of their 25th Anniversary Traveling Show. You can see the images here. Each quilt is 10 x 7 inches (25.4 x 17.8 cm), mounted on a black 12 x 9 inch backing board, and sealed inside a clear envelope. Works chosen for the permanent collection of the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky, are marked with an asterisk next to the artists' names. There are eight sections of the 25th Anniversary Traveling Show traveling all over North America, Europe, Australia and the far east. Thanks SAQA Atlantic for arranging this for us. Several of our members are members of SAQA Atlantic. if you are interested in joining be sure and check out their website here.

Did you know you can now browse our library titles ahead of the meeting by checking out our list of books here, this is an up-to-date (alphabetical by title) list as of January 2016. You can also see what rulers we have in our new ruler library, the list is here plus each ruler has a helpful link to a website that explains how to use the ruler. The libraries are there for you, our members to use. We are so fortunate to have this resource as well as our great librarian, Marilyn to look after it for us.

We are back to our usual meeting time for our March 7 meeting, 6:30 for 7pm.
