Cuddle Quilt Day 2012

By 29 January 2012Community

Once again members of our Guild have come together for an amazing day of cutting, sewing, tying and finishing quilts for several charitable causes. Harbour House, the women's shelter, Blankets of Love, quilts for Shoreham Nursing Home and for the NICU at the IWK Hospital for Women and Children.

Sewers
Linda, Janet, Isabel and Denise are ready for those quilts.

Throughout the day members worked on quilt tops that were brought in which were ready to be sandwiched with batting and backing. Other members started tying quilts and some were finishing up the quilts by topstitching all around the edges. Quilts for the NICU came in already finished as they have to be either hand or machine quilted.

Concentration
Betty concentrates on tying a quilt.

At the end of the day we had 75 quilts almost ready to be delivered! we still have a few to be tied but the large majority are done. Mother Nature cooperated and it was a beautiful day here after a nasty day Friday when we had snow, ice pellets, freezing rain and heavy rain all in less than 12 hours! Saturday the sun shone and I would guess we had over 50 members and friends out.

The Hall
Many hands make light work and lots of fun! The noise level was quite high with the hum of the sewing machines going non-stop and all the chit chat going on!

Many thanks to members who brought soups an chili and all the extras for lunch as well as delicious sweets to keep us going. A special HUGE thank you to Anna Davison who has managed and run our Cuddle Quilt Day for many years. Her dedication and caring to this project is unsurpassed! Thank you Anna from everyone in the Guild for a job well done!
