SUMMARY:2026 Cuddle Quilt Day
DESCRIPTION:This year\, Cuddle Quilt Day will be Saturday\, March 21\, 2026\, in coordination with International Quilters Day.\n \nDuring the year\, our guild members make quilts to generously donate to various agencies in need. We can donate any size quilt\, except Preemie. So\, baby quilts on up in sizes. Please don’t exclude flannelette for your quilt fronts or backings\, as they make very cuddly quilts. Pre-wash the flannelette or wash in cold water after making the quilt\, as it has more shrinkage than cotton fabric. We usually have a demand for Wheelchair Quilts\, which can be any design that is approximately 36” x 42” in size with rounded or cut-off corners to prevent wheel entanglement. And some agencies love the Walker Caddies.\n \nThere are so many patterns and options online\, so please make the one you like. The quilts\, caddies or quilt tops need to be donated before Cuddle Quilt Day\, if possible\, at any regular meeting. On Cuddle Quilt Day\, we will sandwich and quilt the donated quilt tops\, sew on the binding and iron a MBQG label on each quilt.\n \nWe need volunteers for Cuddle Quilt Day\, so I will pass around a sign-up sheet at the February and March meetings.\n \nThe guild can provide batting. Please pass along your required batting size to Betty\, and I will have the batting cut and passed along to you. Also\, at the February meeting\, Annette will be helping me with cutting batting so you can request it during the meeting break. DESCRIPTION:OPEN SEW DAY UPDATE!! \nWe are very pleased to announce that we have the first open sew day booked for\nTHURSDAY\, NOVEMBER 20 at the Trinity United Church Hall (where we meet) from 10am to 4pm. \nYou can come for the day or pop in for a shorter visit. \nWe will have all the tables set up and space will be based on how many people attend. \nHand stitchers are welcome as well as machine sewers. \nWe have ironing boards and full-size irons but feel free to bring your own travel iron and wool mat if you like.  We have a cutting mat if needed but please bring your own ruler and rotary cutter if using.  Please bring your own extension cord or wheel if you are planning to plug something in\, such as a sewing machine\, iron\, or extra lighting. SUMMARY:2025 Cuddle Quilt Day
DESCRIPTION:National Quilting Day this year will be celebrated on Saturday\, March 15.  For over 20 years\, our guild has been making and donating quilts to those in need.  So\, again this year\, we will hold our annual Cuddle Quilt Day on Saturday\, March 15\, at the Church hall from 10am – 4pm.  Quilt tops will be completed there as well as sandwiching and quilting of donated quilt tops.  All quilt sizes are in demand\, as well as wheelchair quilts and walker pocket quilts. \n \nA big thank you again to Faye Brown  for her donation of beautiful fabrics last year\, some of which we used for 3 yard quilts\, and the bolts of fabric which we can use for backing on Cuddle Quilt Day.\n \nRita Solkin has generously volunteered to be our 2025 Cuddle Quilt Day Coordinator\, so further information will be forthcoming from her.  Thank you all for a very successful 2024 year with 65 quilts donated.\n \nShare on FacebookTweet

Doors open at 6:30 pm. \nBusiness Meeting: The meeting begins at 7:00 pm\, usually lasting 30-40 minutes. \nProgram:  Lynn Jones is the guest speaker for April – and don’t miss her pop up shop!\n \nFat Quarter Draw: theme for April is batiks \nSew & Tell: The meeting wraps up with sharing our completed projects. SUMMARY:Cuddle Quilt Day
DESCRIPTION:In coordination with National Quilter’s Day\, Cuddle Quilt Day will be held on Saturday\, March 16\, at the church hall from 10am – 4pm.  Members and the general public are welcome.  More details will be available via email and at the February meeting\, as well as a sign-up sheet for volunteers.  Meantime\, we can all get a head start at home on our Cuddle Day quilt tops or\, better still\, completed quilts.  All size quilts\, wheelchair quilts\, walker-bags and pillowcases are welcome!  \n\n\n\nAt the February meeting\, we will have batting available.  Please bring your quilt sizes so we can cut batting for your needs.  However\, we are short on quilt backing.  So\, if you have any backing fabric or fabric that can be pieced for backing\, a donation would be greatly appreciated.  You can bring it to the February meeting or contact me to arrange pick-up.  Any completed items or quilt tops can also be dropped off at this meeting.\nFeel free to contact me with questions or to volunteer.  This is my first kick at the can\, so your support and guidance would be much appreciated! You can reach me at learning.betty@hotmail.com.\nBetty Learning\nCuddle Quilt Day Co-ordinator\n\n\nShare on FacebookTweet
