SUMMARY:2026 MBQG Quilt Retreat (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:RETREAT UPDATES FROM ANNETTE \nThe excitement is mounting as the retreat draws near. Hard to believe it is this coming weekend! This is a reminder that we will be opening the conference room at 1pm on Friday May 22 for the fun to begin. The retreat will continue until 4pm on Sunday May 24th. \nThe time for our Show and Tell has been rescheduled to 2 pm on SATURDAY in an attempt to include everyone. (We know some like to retire early and others plan to travel home at night so Friday evening may have been limited.) \nPlease remember to bring your power cord that is long enough to reach a wall outlet and has the amount of plug ins that you will require. \nIf you plan to sew into the evening a table light would be a useful addition to your packing. \nPacking a non-see-through mug or cup can also be useful. \nIf you want to bring treats to share there will be a table for that. (optional) \nThe Wooden Spool Pop-Up Shop will be set up Friday\, Saturday and Sunday and is open for all MBQG members even if you are not attending retreat. \nWayne and Marce of Furtune’s Knife\, Scissors and Gardening Tool Sharpening will be joining us on Saturday May 23rd from 10am to 2pm. Payment in CASH only and they are open to anyone and everyone. \nIf you have any last-minute questions send them along to me otherwise\, I will see you on Friday! \nAnnette \n____________________________________________________ \nThe 2026 Guild Retreat is booked for May 22-May 24. We will be gathering at the Best Western Plus in Liverpool Nova Scotia in the same space as last year. \nRegistration has been filled\, capped at 30 attendees but are taking a wait list (please email Annette at aandbf@eastlink.ca if you wish to be added to list). Last year everyone on the wait list was offered to attend because of members who had to cancel. \nThe cost of the retreat will hopefully be no more than $50 for the whole weekend. The only way it would be more is if there is low attendance so\, PLEASE do not send payment to me until the price is set. I will send another email to registered members with payment details once I see how\nregistration is progressing. Registration money pays for the conference room and to provide door prizes for attendees. \nYou are responsible for booking and managing your own room at the hotel. If you think you are going to stay\, PLEASE book your room early.  The block of rooms will be held until one month before the event and then will be opened to the public. We also have a special group rate of 134.00 plus tax per night. To get this rate you must call the hotel directly at 902-354-2377 and ask for the Mahone Bay Quilters Guild Retreat rate. The event rate is good for Friday and Saturday night\, May 22 and 23rd. Buffet breakfast is included for guests who are staying overnight.  Everyone is responsible for their own meals. \nThis retreat is for independent sew time with no classes offered. If anyone wants to offer demos or skills let me know and I will include it in the retreat updates. \nWe do have a vendor booked to come for the entire retreat.  The Wooden Spool from Granville Ferry has agreed to come down and will bring requests if you\ncontact Donna. Use her personal cell # 1-902-532-8592 or you can reach the shop by messenger to request something be brought down. If you request something you do not have to purchase it UNLESS it is something that had to be cut from a bolt especially to fill an order.  They will be setup Friday 22nd 2-6\, Saturday 23rd 10-5 and Sunday 24th 10-2. \nFurtunes Knife\, Scissor & Gardening Tool Sharpening will be in attendance Saturday 23rd 10-2 (CASH only). \nAll members whether attending the retreat or not are welcome to visit the pop up shop and to bring items for sharpening. \nThat’s it for now. There will be more updates once additional details are finalized. \nAnnette \n
