SUMMARY:2026 Cuddle Quilt Day
DESCRIPTION:This year\, Cuddle Quilt Day will be Saturday\, March 21\, 2026\, in coordination with International Quilters Day.\n \nDuring the year\, our guild members make quilts to generously donate to various agencies in need. We can donate any size quilt\, except Preemie. So\, baby quilts on up in sizes. Please don’t exclude flannelette for your quilt fronts or backings\, as they make very cuddly quilts. Pre-wash the flannelette or wash in cold water after making the quilt\, as it has more shrinkage than cotton fabric. We usually have a demand for Wheelchair Quilts\, which can be any design that is approximately 36” x 42” in size with rounded or cut-off corners to prevent wheel entanglement. And some agencies love the Walker Caddies.\n \nThere are so many patterns and options online\, so please make the one you like. The quilts\, caddies or quilt tops need to be donated before Cuddle Quilt Day\, if possible\, at any regular meeting. On Cuddle Quilt Day\, we will sandwich and quilt the donated quilt tops\, sew on the binding and iron a MBQG label on each quilt.\n \nWe need volunteers for Cuddle Quilt Day\, so I will pass around a sign-up sheet at the February and March meetings.\n \nThe guild can provide batting. Please pass along your required batting size to Betty\, and I will have the batting cut and passed along to you. Also\, at the February meeting\, Annette will be helping me with cutting batting so you can request it during the meeting break. We have a whole roll of black batting\, so if your quilt can possibly accommodate black\, let us know.\n \nBetty Learning

SUMMARY:2025 MBQG Quilt Retreat (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:Very Exciting News…..We are well on our way to planning our 2025 Retreat.  Following are all details regarding the retreat. \n  \nWe have our maximum of 30 attendees and several on a wait list. \nAnnette Fralic has contacted everyone to let them know if they are in or if they are waitlisted. \n  \nHotel Information. \nThere is a block of rooms set aside at the special rate of $129 plus tax per night for the night of May 23 and May 24\, 2025. \nBook early if you plan to stay overnight as the block of rooms will be released one month before the event. \n  \nYOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR BOOKING AND MANAGING YOUR OWN RESERVATION WITH THE HOTEL. \n  \nThe hotel is the Best Western Plus at 63 Queens Place Drive\, Liverpool\, Nova Scotia. \nPlease call the hotel directly to avoid confusion in getting our special room rate. \nAsk for the Mahone Bay Quilters Guild Retreat Event Rate for May 23 and 24 2025. \nThe direct phone number for the hotel is 902-354-2377. \n  \nBy staying at the hotel overnight you will be treated to their lovely hot and cold breakfast each morning\, as well as coffee\, tea\, and water all day long in the breakfast room. \n  \nThe cost for the retreat itself will be $45 each. \nThis will be kept separate from the Guild funds and will be paid directly to Annette (preferably payment by cash\, if you must e-transfer please let Annette know as it will need to go into her account). \nPayment must be received no later than March 15th (Cuddle Quilt Day). \nAnnette will be at the March general meeting as well as Cuddle Quilt Day to accept payments. \nIf payment is not received by that time your spot will be opened to the next person on the waitlist. \nPayment guarantees your spot. \n  \nThe format will look different from other MBQG Retreats. \nThere is open independent sewing available all day and night if you want to be that ambitious! \nThe first person to the conference room in the morning can go to the front desk to get the room opened for the day. \nThe last person sewing at night will go to the front desk to let them know the room is ready to be locked for the night. \nThere are no classes planned. \nYou may plan social activities amongst yourselves. \nThere will be door prizes throughout the weekend. \n  \nEveryone is responsible for their own meals. \nThere are many options close by and Annette will get the places and hours of operation prepared closer to the retreat. \nNO alcohol permitted in the conference room. \nBring a non-see through “sippy” cup with you such as a YETI\, etc. \n  \nGreat News!  Violet Quilts will be holding a pop-up shop at the retreat.  Nothing better than quilting\, except quilting and shopping for fabric at the same time!! \n  \nIf anyone should have any questions\, please contact Annette. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n
