MBQG November Meeting

By 10 November 2011Meetings

We had a wonderful turnout for our November meeting and what a treat we had with the visit of some of the members from the Piecemakers Bee from Halifax. Their bee is the Mayflower QG and have been meeting for almost 30 years! They meet every Friday morning for lots of quilt chat, quilt work and usually the conversation will turn to books and knitting!

Meredith Annett and Ann Carmichael led the program which was all about the "One Block Wonder" technique which was developed by Maxine Rosenthal. They brought along tops and quilts in various forms of completion. The fabric choice for this quilt is really important, large prints with a 16"-24" repeat is very important.

A good choice for fabric.

We were also treated to our "Quilter of the Month", Valerie Angell. Valerie shared with us her quilt story from making teddy bears to making quilts to making quilted jackets and bags! It has been quite a journey!

Rafflequilt
The grand unveiling of our 2012 raffle quilt. Many thanks to Isabel Fancey who pieced the top, all the members who quilted the top and to Sandra McSweeney who donated the fabric and the pattern Thanks to all! We will get a good picture of the quilt soon!

Please do visit our Flickr page to view all the pictures from our program and show and tell. I apologize if I didn't get everyone's names or the names of the quilts. It is very hard to take pictures and pay attention let alone make notes! I think I need an assistant! Any volunteers?
